Welcome to the official website for 'Legacy of the Watch', I was a Mandalorian fan going back to the original appearance of Boba Fett in 'The Empire Strikes Back'. Then Boba's "father" Jango Fett was introduced in the prequel film 'Attack of the Clones'. I have always had a love for knights, armor and weapons, so it was natural to be attracted to characters like Boba, Jango and the Mandalorian who seemed like futuristic knights. I have also always thought the closest comparison to the Mandalorian from a historic perspective is the Knights Templar. So far as a comparison to modern day, I'd say the Mandalorian are Star Wars' Green Berets, Rangers and Navy SEALs.
Then came 'The Clone Wars' and 'Rebels' animated series which went more in depth about the Mandalorian people, culture and history, including the infamous Death Watch Mandalorian. There have been numerous novels and comic books produced about Boba, Jango and the Mandalorian as well.
Recently Disney started their streaming service Disney Plus which premiered their flagship original series 'The Mandalorian'. This show was created by Jon Favreau (who literally started the Marvel Cinematic Universe) and Dave Filoni (who also produced and directed 'The Clone Wars' and 'Rebels' animated series). I absolutely love 'The Mandalorian' series, not only because it is about a Mandalorian, but it also takes me back to my childhood watching Sergio Leone' Spaghetti Westerns starring Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef. It also reminds me of 'The Incredible Hulk' series with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno in that the Mandalorian Din Djarin is on the run from different antagonists and finds himself in different situations where he has to get involved even though he is trying to keep a low profile. This series has also given us a look at other Mandalorian that are members of the Covert, which is their secret hiding place. We also got a look at their Death Watch Mandalorian during a flash back in the first season finale'.
I have kicked around ideas for a Star Wars fan production for years, which usually involved the Force and the Jedi, but 'The Mandalorian' series has shown me that there is a lot more to explore in the Star Wars universe and it doesn't have to be overly complicated stories with complex visual effects. 'The Mandalorian' is just a good old fashion action-adventure popcorn series. Again, I love the world of 'The Mandalorian' and 'Legacy of the Watch' will be set in that world. Actually my Mandalorian will have a connection to Din Djarin, but you'll just have to wait for the premiere to see what it is.
In closing, 'Legacy of the Watch' will also go by what George Lucas desired for new Star Wars productions, in that it will introduce new worlds, new aliens, and new characters. 'Legacy of the Watch' will try its best to follow George Lucas' vision for Star Wars.
This is the way.
